From Merko Lacarra seaside campsite in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, you can hear the waves breaking. With family, as a couple, or with friends, you can enjoy the three beaches of Acotz for all water and sand activities. The beach is supervised in July and August, with a delimited swimming area, and restrooms are located nearby. And all around, the Basque Coast with its breathtaking panoramas, sunsets over the Atlantic, and legendary surf spots.
You can go surfing with your board under your arm; nationally renowned waves are accessible on foot, and many surf schools are present in Saint Jean de Luz.
Ideal for families wishing to enjoy large beaches in complete tranquility. The warm sand and vast natural spaces are 50 meters from the campsite. Just grab your parasol, beach toys for the kids, or your towel and go enjoy lazing around by the sea.

- The coastal path: stretching 25 km, discover magnificent panoramas of the Basque coast and its mountains. This path will allow you to explore exceptional natural areas with information at each of the 7 orientation gates. It offers a great diversity of atmospheres, alternating beaches, coves, paths, and small roads.
- Sainte-Barbe: a haven of peace and greenery for a moment of relaxation and walking. A privileged site that served successively as a stronghold, a place of worship, and then a pilgrimage for sailors. The 19th-century beacon, a lantern used as a signal, is still in place today. This site is very close to your seaside Basque Country campsite.
- La pile d’assiettes: a magnificent postcard testifying to the erosion of the rocks since the beginning of the last century.

Surfing and other water activities from the campsite
The Atlantic Ocean is an incredible playground. From Mayarco beach – and a few minutes by bike in the direction of Guéthary – it is possible to practice a multitude of water activities:
- Surfing and bodyboarding: waves accessible to beginners and experienced surfers alike. Lafitenia beach, just a few meters away, is an internationally renowned surf spot.
- Paddleboarding and kayaking: to be practiced freely in unsupervised areas. You can bring your own water sports equipment.
- Snorkeling and diving: the waters of the Basque Coast are ideal for exploring the seabed.
- Fishing: possible near the campsite.
50 meters from the campsite is Bibam, a renowned beach restaurant on the Basque Coast, a perfect spot for lunch with your feet in the sand.
