At Anglet, the beaches extend 4.5 kilometres in length, between the Cap Saint Martin rock and the dike marking the entrance to the Adour estuary. It has 11 character ranges, namely :

  • The beach of the Petite Chambre d’Amour offers a view of the lighthouse ;
  • The club beach, a small beach between two ears ;
  • The beach in Les Sables d’Or, an urban beach ;
  • The beach of Marinella, it is very popular with young people ;
  • The beaches of La Madrague and La Petite Madrague, very popular with the most trendy ;
  • The beach of the Ocean, less easily accessible, it will delight lovers of the wilderness ;
  • The beach of Les Dunes, a beach bordered by the Chiberta golf course
  • The beach of Les Cavaliers hosts professional surfing competitions ;
  • The beach of La Barre, quieter, it will delight children, and is ideal for swimming.

Ideally located between ocean and forest, the city ofAnglet has a rich natural heritage. It also offers historical and religious monuments offering 19th and 20th century architecture. Are you thirsty for discovery? Anglet will satisfy you with its many must-see places, namely:

  • The coastal road is a real marvel. Far from the cars, it is a very well equipped trail. In addition, it offers a magnificent view of all the beaches of Anglet.
  • The cave of the Chambre d’Amour has a legend telling the story of a poor orphaned boy and his girlfriend, daughter of a rich farmer. They loved each other very much, and decided to take the oath of their love to death, despite the parents’ opposition. A storm once flooded the cave and caused the death of the two lovers. Since then, the cave has been called the Chambre d’Amour because it was their love nest. Today, it is one of the most visited sites in Anglet.
  • The church of Saint Leon was built in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 16th century. Located opposite the town hall of Anglet, it has galleries and balustrades dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. A real return to the past for tourists and visitors to Anglet.
  • The chapel of Notre Dame du refuge is another religious monument worth a detour during your visit to Anglet. Dating from the 19th century, it now houses a chapel, a congregation and a convent. It was built by Father Louis Edouard Cestac for frivolous women, and other monuments are to be discovered in Anglet such as the town hall and the villa El Hogar, classified as 20th century heritage. In a neo-Spanish style, they were designed by the renowned architect William Marcel. You can also see the villa Beatrix Enea and its sculpture installed in the public garden.
